Driver Education Mandatory Parent/Student Meeting Schedule for 2011 – 2012 August 8th, 2011
State law requires students to accompany their parent/guardian to the 90-minute driver safety class within the driver education curriculum. According to state data, teen drivers who have completed the PWCS driver education program have the lowest crash rate in Virginia. The Partners for Safe Teen Driving Program, which served as the model for the state, teaches parents about current state driving laws, discusses techniques for coaching teens, empowers the parent to assist their student in managing the high risk driving environment in our community, and offers other essential safety information. Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend the program at the time their student is enrolled in the classroom driver education course. Doors will close at 7 p.m. No one will be admitted after the doors have been closed. View the schedule of meetings.

MRSA Updates for the 2010–11 School Year June 1st, 2011
Continuing the practice begun in the 2007–08 school year, Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) will report on a monthly basis any confirmed cases of the staph infection known as MRSA during the 2009–10 school year. This bacterial infection can spread easily among people who spend time in close contact with each other, such as household members and participants in close-contact sports. MRSA is not spread through the air. Personal hygiene is very important in preventing and controlling the spread of MRSA infections. Frequent hand washing with soap and water is the primary means of preventing staph infections. For more information, please follow the links that appear below. This page will be updated on the last workday of each month. For more information, including a parent tip sheet and general information on MRSA infections, please follow the links below.

Parent Tips for Prom Time April 26th, 2011
The prom or senior ball should be a positive experience for your young adult, one that he or she will never forget. Before the big event there is much talk—about gowns, tuxedos, which groups will share a limousine, and of course, who will be the big date. But the most important part of that talk should come from the parent in explaining that prom night safety is crucial in the planning process, and that alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes are not necessary for a fun evening.
