Donna McLeod, classroom teacher at Westridge Elementary School, passed away over the weekend following a long illness. Funeral services will be private.

Dina Mize, Supervisor of Classified Personnel, Prince William County Public Schools

Dina Mize passed away on June 5, 2016. A funeral mass will be offered at noon on Thursday, June 9 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 271 Winchester St., Warrenton. Reception to follow in the church hall. There will not be a viewing beforehand.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shepherd Center, 2020 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30309 or online at with a designation for Acquired Brain Injury.

Dana Camille Stevenson, Speech Language Pathologist for Bennett and Mullen Elementary Schools 
Dana Stevenson passed away on April 29, 2016. She was a graduate of Hylton High School and returned to PWCS after college to work as a speech language pathologist. She was with PWCS for approximately 15 years. Dana touched the lives of many children during her life. Her presence will be sorely missed.

Family and friends will be received at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City VA 22193 on Saturday, May 7, 2-3 p.m. with a life celebration service beginning at 3 p.m.

Judy Mae Miller, Former Secretary for Mullen Elementary School and 30 Year PWCS Employee

Judy Miller passed away on April 21, 2016. After a brief career in the Federal Government, Mrs. Miller worked for Prince William County Public Schools for over 30 years, known best as the secretary of Mullen Elementary School. She retired from PWCS a few years ago. 

The family will receive friends on April 27 (6-9 p.m.) & April 28 (1-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.) at Manassas Baptist Church and a funeral service is set for April 29. View the obituary for more information

Megan Bozzard, McAuliffe Elementary School Counselor

Staff, students, and friends are grieving the loss of McAuliffe Elementary School Counselor Megan Bozzard, who died on April 19, and extend condolences to her family. She had worked at McAuliffe since August 2013. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Chapel on May 4 at 1:30 p.m.. (Sacred Heart Chapel is part of Sacred Heart Church on Purcell Road, Chapel address is 6430 Token Forest Drive, Manassas, VA 20112-8088).

Sandra Kinsey, Former School Counselor at Potomac High School

Mrs. Kinsey died on April 13.  She began her career with Prince William County Public Schools as a guidance counselor at Potomac High School in August 1996. She retired in 2002 and participated in the School Division's Retirement Opportunity Program until June 30, 2010. The memorial service will be on Tuesday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at Triumph Baptist Church, 4295 Aiken Drive, Warrenton, VA.

Mrs. Fleming passed away on Friday, April 15. She worked for PWCS Custodial Services for 36 years. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. Marcie Brock, retired secretary/bookkeeper at Henderson Elementary School 
Mrs. Brock passed away on March 20 at her home in Gainesville, Va. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Henderson Elementary School from 1986 to 2007. A celebration of life is planned for May 1. View obituary.

For almost 30 years Mr. Robbins worked at Rockledge and Westridge Elementary Schools and at Rippon and Graham Park Middle Schools as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Memorial service will be Friday, March 11 at 3 p.m. at Saint Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 12351 All Saints Place, Woodbridge, VA 22192. Ms. Verdonck passed away January 11, 2016 after a long illness. Ms. Verdonck worked at at Marsteller Middle School from 2000-2013 and at Gainesville Middle School from 2013-2015. In June 2015 she relocated to Georgia to be closer to her son. More information will be posted when available.

Elizabeth Catron passed away peacefully on January 13, 2016. In 1980, she began teaching in Prince William County Public Schools. Thurman (Jack) Sullins, Retired Teacher at Woodbridge High School

Mr. Sullins passed away on December 19 at 82 years of age. He was a teacher at Woodbridge High School for 10 years. His daughter, Jackie Mikus, currently works at Benton Middle School. 

Funeral services were held in Abingdon, Virginia on December 23.

Margaret "Peggy" Bozzard, Retired Teacher at Enterprise Elementary School

Mrs. Bozzard died peacefully in her sleep on December 21. A service is set for December 30, 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Chapel, off Purcell Road in Manassas. (The family asks not to be contacted as they deal privately with her unexpected passing.)

Mrs. Bozzard began teaching in PWCS in 1979. She retired from Enterprise Elementary School as a third-grade teacher in 2010 and worked as a substitute teacher after completing her retirement volunteer opportunity hours. She was nominated for the PWCS Teacher of the Year Award in 2010.

Karen KingKaren King, Retired Bookkeeper for Media Services, Fred Lynn Middle School and Beville Middle School

Karen King passed away on December 22, 2015. She began her 31-year career with Prince William County Schools in 1976 at Fred Lynn Middle School, and later worked at Beville Middle School. She joined the Media Production Services Office staff in 1995 where she retired from her bookkeeper position in 2007. A private celebration of her life is planned.

Joseph Paul Cardinale, former Prince William County Public Schools Teacher and Principal

Mr. Cardinale died on November 20, 2015. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He then dedicated his life to educating youth as a teacher and principal in Prince William County. His dedication made its mark on many of Gar-Field High School and Woodbridge High School alumni. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign War or the American Legion.

Cynthia Jacoby, former school nurse at Rippon Elementary School and Leesylvania School

The services for Cindy Jacoby were held on December 1 at 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Woodbridge. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Melanoma Research Foundation Supporting the work of Gerald Linette, Washington Hospital Division of Oncology, Box 8007, Attention:  Robert Barczewski, 660 S. Ms. Jacoby was hired on October 16, 1992, and worked as an office assistant and a nurse until August 2004, when she worked exclusively as a School Nurse until her retirement on August 13, 2012. Read more.

Donna Castellow, Teaching Assistant at Independent Hill School - Pace East 
Mrs. Castellow died on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. A card will be stationed in the Independent Hill School office for staff and friends who would like to sign it. The viewing will be Monday, October 19, 2015 from 6-7 p.m. at A. L. Bennett in Fredericksburg, 200 Butternut Dr, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 11 a.m., graveside, at Sylvannah Baptist Church, 8400 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22553.

Rebecca Wheaton, 5th grade teacher at Leeyslvania Elementary School
Mrs. Wheaton was wife of SRO Officer Bud Wheaton.  She died this weekend after a short illness. Memorial services will be on Thursday, October 15, at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. and the funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Upon completion of the service, a motorcade will proceed to National Memorial Park. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mrs. Wheaton's childhood church, Bethel Baptist Church located at 1004 Yorktown Rd., Yorktown, VA 23693.

Krsunthia Brooks Childs, former assistant principal at Lake Ridge Middle School 
Ms. Childs passed away on October 7, 2015, as a result of a long term illness.

Ms. Ramsburg died on Saturday, September 13, 2015 following a brief illness. She was employed by Mary Williams Elementary School from August 30, 2012 to September 11, 2015.

A memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 3 at the Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow. The interment will be family only.

Myra Jean Watts, retired French teacher at Gar-Field High School

Myra was a career educator. She taught French at Gar-Field High School, retiring in 2000 after 35 years in the classroom. She was an avid reader and bridge player, and enjoyed gardening and BBC comedies.
